Brandon Terrell Roman has departed from this world on January 17th at the age of 29. His passing is devastating and the shockwave will be felt for the rest of our lives. While he is gone pieces of him remain. His children Aleena, Gabrielle, and Brandon, they are his legacy. They are the best parts of him and during this time I ask that we think of them.
Brandon struggled with PTSD and he fought every single day. He was a fighter. He gave everything he had but the battle he had within was bigger and stronger than any of us knew. We cannot blame ourselves. Mental illness is often a silent battle we fight alone. I want everyone to remember, you are not alone, help is always available. We just need to ask. Because no matter what Brandon thought, in the end he was loved by so many.
Brandon did so much in his life, it would be a crime to not acknowledge all of his achievements. He was a Sergeant in the Army, he fought in the Afghanistan war and was discharged with honors. He was a wide receiver in the local Colorado football team The Stings. He was a baker. Making pies from scratch since he was a teenager! Baking all sorts of sweets and putting his own twist on it. He also loved the Raiders; it was basically a part of his personality that was his team! Brandon wanted to help people. He worked ki with recovering addicts, he believed in second chances. And he believed in people when no one else would. He was a man with a powerful voice and a fierce love. He was the one you called when you wanted an honest opinion. The one you laughed with until your sides hurt. The one with all the comebacks. Brandon was everybody's favorite.
Brandon was my first friend. He was my baby brother. He was supposed to look up to me but I found myself looking up to him most of the time. He always just accepted me for who I was. And for that I am grateful. Grateful to be a part of his life. So my best bud. My baby brother. My blue muffin I write this with tears of immense sorrow and a hint of joy. Because you are gone and I never wanted to write this but joy for knowing you. The silly dancing dude that always had something to say.
To Brandon Terrell Roman, a doting father, a boisterous son, a loving brother, a loyal friend and a strong fighter we wish you peace. We love you forever and always!
A Remembrance Gathering for Brandon will be held Monday, January 27, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Chapel of Memories, 829 South Hancock, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
