Cherie Marie Dowis (Churchill), 92, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026.

Cherie was born on July 3, 1933 in Sheridan, Missouri, the only child of Basil and Neva Churchill.

She grew up in Sheridan, where the values of family, faith, and resilience were instilled from an early age.

In 1953, Cherie married Franklin Dowis and shortly thereafter, the couple moved to Colorado Springs where she built a life centered on home and family. A devoted mother and homemaker, Cherie’s greatest joy was caring for those she loved. Her feisty personality, strong spirit, and unwavering devotion made her the heart of her family.

Cherie had a deep passion for her faith and enjoyed participating in Bible studies. She also loved baking, reading, and volunteering, always finding ways to serve others. One of her greatest pleasures was telling stories to her grandchildren, creating memories they will forever cherish.

She is survived by her sons Andrew William Dowis and his wife Lisa, and Randy Churchill Dowis and his wife Mary; and her six beloved grandchildren: Drew, Weston, Kasch, Carsen, Reagan and Paige.

A private service will be held at a later date. The family requests donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Cherie.
