December 25, 1911 – July 31, 2012
On December 25, 1911, in Brooklyn, New York, Adolph and Magnolia Cardoze
celebrated a new addition to their family “Christina Madge Cardoze”.
Christina, affectionately known as “Tina” grew up in Brooklyn, NY. Her
mother, Magnolia, raised her, after her father passed away when she was 2 years
old.
Christina was quite the entrepreneur, born at the turn of the century and a young
adult during the great depression in the 1930’s, she understood the importance of
saving money. She walked to work at her paper box factory job to save a nickel.
She eventually saved enough money to buy her first home in 1949 and would go
on to own several homes in Brooklyn which were rental properties. Christina
didn’t stop there; she would expand her business opportunities by purchasing
several “gasoline stations” during the 1970’s.
Christina met and fell in love with the love of her life Leonard “Lennie” Waller;
they married on August 21, 1970. Christina and Lennie retired to Florida in
1981; where they appreciated the sun and ocean. After living in Florida for 25
years, they moved to Colorado Springs on May 2, 2006.
She enjoyed life. She traveled the world: Switzerland, Italy, Puerto Rico, and the
United States. A few of her recent trips; Las Vegas, at the age of 100, she
enjoyed playing the slot machines; Disney World in Orlando; Destin, Florida, she
loved the beach and ocean. She loved to smile and “Hold Your Hand!”
Christina peacefully departed this life on July 31, 2012. She spent her final days
surrounded by family and friends.
