

David was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on April 20, 1952 to Harry Clifford and Wanda West Epperson. He attended elementary, junior high, and high school in Colorado Springs, graduating from William J. Palmer High School in 1970. Having graduated third in his class academically, David received a scholarship to the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley where he majored in Theatre Arts with a minor in English. In his first year, he was recognized for academic achievement, and subsequently received award-winning roles in his college plays. In 1974 David graduated from UNC Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Theater Arts.
In the 1970's and 80's David pursued an acting career playing numerous roles in Colorado and California on the dinner theater circuit, with repertory theater, and with a children's theater touring group.
David became a permanent resident of California in 1981, where he was employed by Cunningham Drugstore until 1991. He then began a twenty-year career with Gelson's, working in Century City and then Newport Beach.
His father, mother, and eldest brother Terry preceded David in death.
His siblings Allen, Douglas, Wayne, and Evelyn Epperson survive David. In addition are his cousins Brent, Randy, David and Craig West, Paula McGuire, Jan Stringham, and Kathy Williams, nieces Marie Corbin, Jamie Ujvari , and Amanda Epperson, great-nephew Chris Corbin and partner Thom Rutledge.
A tribute will be held in Colorado Springs, Colorado at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N Cascade Avenue on August 4 at 10:00 AM. Flowers are welcome and may be sent to Swan Law. Those wishing to make charitable contributions may donate to the American Cancer Society.
