What can we say about Reverend Dave Foster? All who knew him will say that when he stood before his Savior, Jesus said, “Well done my good and faithful servant”. Dave became Reverend Dave in 1993 under the teaching of Reverend Tony Pierce at Christian Family Center Church. Dave would walk the streets of downtown Peoria witnessing to all he crossed paths with. Dave also went to local prisons and witnessed to inmates, spreading the word of his Savior. Dave and Deb welcomed all to their home; if you were hungry they welcomed you to their table, if you were homeless they offered their home to you to sleep and be safe. Every opportunity Dave had to talk about Jesus he didn’t hesitate.
Dave worked at Caterpillar for 30 years and was a steward for Local UAW 974. Dave’s real passion was sports and children, working 17 years for the Salvation Army coaching biddy basketball and 20 years coaching, reffing, and umpiring at the Christian Center in Peoria. Dave became an IHSA basketball official.
Dave was a diehard St. Louis Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys fan. Dave loved to play spades and poker. If you wanted to sit at the table with him you had better know how to play and make sure you had your own money because he wanted to win it all, even Deb had to have her own money.
Dave went by a few different names, if he answered to Robin, he was speaking to his family, if he answered to Chilly he was speaking to a Cat co-worker, if he answered to Coach, he was talking to one of his many kids that he coached at the Salvation Army or Christian Center and if he answered to Dave he was probably speaking to someone who he witnessed to about his Lord and Savior. Which ever name he answered to, he was always the same patient, easy going man who lived every day living for the Lord and reminding everyone that Jesus loved them.
Dave was a kind, patient soul who will be missed by all who knew him. For all who knew Dave, Robin, Coach, or Chilly, he will be remembered by the kind, patient man he was and we will always hear his voice saying to us…Jesus loves you!!
