David was born on September 17, 1946 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Robert “Bob” and Margaret “Peggy” Griffin.
David and his family lived in Buenos Aires and later moved to what is lovingly referred as “The Estancia” near Paysandu. From there David went on to earn his early education at both St. George’s College in Buenos Aires as well as The British School in Montevideo.
In 1964 David met the love of his life, Linda, in Montevideo. After moving to the United States, David and Linda would go on to be married on May 8, 1968 in Henrietta, TX. David continued his education at Cameron State Agricultural College in Lawton, OK and then he would eventually earn his degree in Agricultural Economics from Cal State Chico, in Chico, CA.
In 1972 David and Linda welcomed their first child, Robert David, into the world and they were overjoyed to be parents. Five years later in 1977 they were blessed again when they welcomed their second child, Bradley David.
In 1981 David and his family moved to San Angelo, TX. There David found employment in an unlikely field in automotive sales at Mustang Chevrolet. David would work his way through the ranks and into management at the dealership until the time of its untimely closing in 1992. Under new ownership David would go on to continue on with the rebranded dealership, All American Chevrolet, until he left for greener pastures at an automotive bulletproofing company called SafeCar. He enjoyed his time in this new arena but then he would even go on to earn his Real Estate license and go to work for Bob Ingram Real Estate. However, David would eventually return to what he loved and began working at Jim Bass Ford where he was the Fleet and Commercial Sales Manager there until his retirement in 2014.
Shortly after his retirement, David and Linda moved to Woodland Park, CO where they lived until his passing on March 13th.
David is survived by his wife Linda of 53 years, his two sons; Robert (wife Michelle) of Endicott, NY and their two children, Lydia and Alex; Brad (wife Kristen) of Kenmare, ND and their two children, Madison and Zachary; his only brother Hugh of Concepcion del Uruguay, Entre Rios, Argentina; as well as the countless cousins who are too numerous to mention but whom he loved very much.
David is preceded in death by his father Robert “Bob” and his mother Margaret “Peggy” as well as other cousins that were dearly loved as well.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at UC Health in Woodland Park as well as in Colorado Springs for their wonderful care of David over these past few months.
A memorial service for David will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Eastborough Church Of The Nazarene, 4123 E Pikes Peak Ave, Colorado Springs, Co 80909.
