Deborah Calandrella, a beloved mother, grandmother, and wife passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on September 19, 2024 in Colorado Springs. Born in 1962, Deborah's life was a testament to perseverance and unwavering love for those around her.
Deborah spent her early years in Erie, CO and most of her adult years in Colorado Springs which she loved as the place she raised her family. Deborah spent most of her career working at Pine Creek High School in an administrative role where she loved helping guide students who otherwise had no one to look out for them. Known for her welcoming spirit and willingness to serve others, Deborah was actively involved in both school and faith communities throughout her life and cherished every opportunity to give back.
She was a devoted wife to her husband Steve Calandrella and she was a proud mother to her children Severin, Nichole and Colton and a beloved sister to her brothers David and Dennis. In addition to her immediate family, Deborah's legacy is carried on by her 3 grandchildren, Dannyon, Jackson and Vivian June who gave her the greatest joys of her life. She is also survived by her beloved pugs Pierre and Coco Chanel. Her nurturing presence and the lessons she imparted to each of them will forever resonate in their lives.
A two-time cancer survivor, Deborah never let pain prevent her from living the life she wanted. She showed through example how to persevere and cherish the time she had with pets, family, friends and the simple joys of life like good food, boating and travel. Those who knew Deborah were touched by her warmth, wit and wherewithal. She had a unique ability to make everyone around her feel valued and loved, and her memory will be cherished by all whose lives she touched.
Funeral services and a reception will be held on Saturday, October 5th at 1:30PM at St. Francis of Assisi Church. The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to Marion House of Colorado Springs.
As we remember Deborah, let us celebrate a life filled with grace, love, and a quiet strength that will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
