

Doris Marie Pawol, 82, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, was born in Carroll, Iowa, and passed away on March 4, 2026. Doris was a devoted, compassionate, faith-filled woman whose life was marked by service to others and steadfast love for family, friends, and all whom she met. Doris will be remembered for her contagious laugh that filled the room and for the way she loved everyone with her whole heart.
Born and raised in Carroll, Iowa, Doris pursued her calling to care for others through the Nursing School program at Creighton University/St Joseph Hospital Omaha.
Doris married James S Pawol (deceased) on 01-04-1969.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Teresa Dytri of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her son, Tim Pawol of Las Animas, Colorado; and her grandchildren, Angelina Dytri of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Domnic Dytri stationed at Beaufort, South Carolina. She is also survived by her siblings, Anna Mae Danner of Omaha, Nebraska; Bill Danner of Carroll, Iowa; and Loren Danner of Carroll, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, James S Pawol; and her siblings, Marvin Danner and LaVonne Boetel.
Doris’s faith was central to her life and the strength that carried her through. She loved the Lord, and she also served as a Eucharistic minister for many years and taught Catechism.
Doris LOVED being a registered nurse for 50 years. She worked across many facets of nursing, including neonatal care for newborns, cardiac, ICU, ER, surgical, long-term care, psychiatric, and home health. Through her hands and her heart, she touched countless lives.
She found joy in God’s creation and treasured the simple beauties around her—birds, deer, flowers, gardening, the mountains, and lakes.
She will be greatly missed.
Her funeral mass will be held at St Mary's church in Willey IA, on Saturday May 30th at 10:00 am.
