Born to Jessie (Thompson) Ezzell and Charles Ezzell, Ed falls somewhere in the middle of the twelve children produced during their marriage. Having immigrated to the United States, via Canada from Liverpool, England, Ed’s mother pronounced him King Edward upon his birth, in honor of the King at the time. After his eighteenth birthday he promptly changed his name to become Edward King.
Ed joined the Air Force at the age of seventeen, with his mother’s permission. He met and married his wife, Millie, while stationed in Virginia. The couple and their two children got to experience much of the country during Ed’s long and illustrious twenty-seven year career in the Air Force, which included an exciting meeting with President Ronald Reagan.
Upon his retirement, Ed and Millie returned to Colorado Springs where the couple lived out their remaining years traveling and sharing many RV vacations with his brother, Obbie and sister-in-law, Mary. The two brothers frequently participated in what they called ‘discussions’ which were always entertaining to watch. Ed was preceded in death by his beloved Millie in 2015.
He is survived by two daughters, Debby (Curtis) White and Karen (David) Hollister. He also leaves behind, five grandchildren, Wendy Hollister, Amanda (Bryce) Eckhardt, Daniel White, Savannah (Jim) Rish and Hannah White, as well as six great-grandchildren, Lucus Richardson, Ellie White, Eli Donohue, Christian Ebeo, Finley Eckhardt and Liam Rish, along with a sister, Joyce Mason.
A private ceremony will be held November 26th at Swan Law Funeral Home.
