She moved to Colorado Springs in 1945 to attend Blair Business School. She met (on a blind date) and then married John David Nickell, Jr.. They made their home in Colorado Springs until health issues forced Elma to move to Lakewood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her sisters, Eva Stevens and Marjorie Schultz; survived by her children, Marsha Wolcott, Nancy Nickell, Penny Nickell (Tom) Beery and Ronald (Cathy) Nickell; grandchildren, Matt Wolcott, Mike Beery, Jennifer Beery, Tyler Nickell, Clayton Nickell and great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Rylan and Cameron Beery.
Her resilient spirit will be missed.
