Emily Marie Arpad

Emily was born on August 18th, 1933, to Jozsef and Ana Rabb at home in Randolph, Ohio. After graduating from Atwater High School in 1951, she worked for Motor Cargo in Akron, Ohio. At Motor Cargo she did teletype, microfilm, delivered office mail and filled in for the secretaries when they were sick. Emily married her longtime sweetheart John in 1952. They moved from Ohio to California in 1959 where they lived until 1992. After raising their nine children Emily and John retired and moved to Colorado. As a young girl Emily worked on the farm with her parents. She worked in the fields with her dad before and after school, even driving the tractor. She loved school and one of her favorite things to do was to read. She would often get in trouble for reading late at night with a light under her covers. She was always a prankster, and loved to have fun! When her kids were young, she was primarily a housewife but went to work as her children grew older. She held many jobs but her main job was in quality control for electronics. She was also very active with John in the Knights of Columbus. Emily loved to play cards and go dancing with John in their younger years. As they grew older, she loved playing bingo, going to the casinos to play her favorite slot machines and of course reading. Besides raising nine children of her own, she also raised 2 of her grandchildren.

Emily was preceded in death by her spouse John Arpad Jr., parents Jozsef and Ana Rabb, sisters Katherine Petrelich, Julia Arconti and Mary Rabb. Brothers Frank Rabb, Joseph Rabb, John Rabb and Eli Rabb. Grandchildren Stephanie Arpad and Mitchell Arpad.

Survived by children John Arpad III, Joseph Arpad, Ann (John) Alameda, Steven (Cindy) Arpad, Richard Arpad, Edward Arpad, Thomas (Alicia) Arpad, Cheryl (Fred d.) Edwards, Jeffrey Arpad, fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Emily loved people but especially children. She was always a person who loved unconditionally and would do anything for anyone if she could. Emily loved life and lived it to its fullest.

A visitation for Emily will be held Monday, April 7, 2025 from 11:00 AM at Memorial Gardens Cemetery & Funeral Home, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.

A funeral service will occur Monday, April 7, 2025 from 11:30 AM, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.

A committal service will occur Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 1:00 PM at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80925.

Emily was loved by many and will be greatly missed, but held forever in our hearts.

Emily has requested that everyone wear red to her services.
