Gayle Patricia Nice

Gayle was born in Crookston, Minnesota on January 13, 1937. Raised in a farming community she grew up performing chores around the farm, also learning sewing and other crafts while she went to a country school in Euclid, MN through the 8th grade. After a stay with an Aunt and Uncle in California, she returned to finish her formal education at Crookston Central High.

She eventually made her way to Colorado Springs, Colorado where she made the most of her talents as a self-employed seamstress, creating wedding dresses while working with crafts. Other interesting employment included working in the offices of Evergreen Cemetery, The Construction News and Levine's Toy Store. In 1970, Gayle married Ralph Nice, a fireman who would become the Chief of the Colorado Springs Fire Department. Gayle and Ralph remained happily married 37 years until he passed away in 2007. Since then, Gayle has spent much time traveling and visiting with family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Gayle is survived by sisters Carole Zammert, Mary (Mickie) (Gary) Rustad, and brother Bob Peck (Susan), Daughter Cleo Bentley (Guy) Mark Richards (Kathy) Grandchildren, Jason Mitcham, Chad Mitcham, Ben Johnson, Katie Johnson, Molly Johnson, and Charlotte Bentley and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents Karl Peck and Eleanor Peck and siblings Millicent "Millie" and Emery Gendron, John and Helen "Dolly" Peck, Irene and Stanley Teal, and Richard Peck.

A visitation for Gayle will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.

A funeral service will occur Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 501 N Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.

A committal service will occur Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Memorial Gardens Cemetery & Funeral Home, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
