Born January 8, 1935, George dedicated his life to service, spending 23 distinguished years in the United States Air Force. His commitment to national defense continued through a 15-year career with ITT, where he served as a contract employee supporting Air Force operations.
George is survived by his beloved wife, Sheila Wright. He loved his children and stepchildren: Yvette Morrow (Leon), Sharon Owens (Don), Michele, Tabitha Flowers (Tony), and John Owens (Pam). He was a cherished grandfather to eight, a great-grandfather to nine, and a great-great-grandfather to one; he loved all his family.
George will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and deep love for his family and country. His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped and the values he upheld.
He was known as a man who enjoyed meeting and getting to know others. His pleasant personality and “roll-with-the-flow” attitude helped him make friends everywhere he went. He enjoyed bowling and fishing and cooked wonderful meals for special family gatherings. He maintained an immaculate yard and house until his late 80’s.
In honor of his life and military service, family and friends will come together to remember him at 1:00 P.M. on September 26th at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs.
He and Sheila had an especially deep love for each other. This love sustained both of them during the 18 months he received Hospice care. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care in appreciation of their compassionate care [2550 Tenderfoot Hill Street, Suite 330, Colorado Springs, CO 80906].
