CW4 Gerard F. Franklin Sr. (US Army, Retired) (AKA Jerry) passed away on May 12, 2013 in Colorado Springs, CO after a courageous battle with cancer. Jerry was born in Lindenhurst, New York on October 4, 1945, the youngest of five children born to the late Robert and Mary Franklin. Jerry married Francis in 1965. Shortly after, he enlisted in the US Army and proudly served our country for 30 years. After being stationed in Vietnam, Korea, Virginia, Hawaii, Germany and Colorado, Jerry and Frances retired at Ft. Carson, CO in 1995.
Jerry leaves behind his devoted wife, Frances; loving children Corrina Neugebauer and husband Joseph of Julesburg, CO; Gerard Franklin Jr. of Castle Rock, CO; and Erin Franklin-Miller and husband Bruce of Flurissant, CO; precious grandchildren Andrew, Jacob, Willie, Tyler, Kory, Seth and Payton; as well as many nieces and nephews; and a plethora of cherished friends. Jerry also leaves behind his loyal and loving canine children: Anabel, Molly, Daisy, Milo and Emily.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Friday, May 17, 2013 at 1:00pm at Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Church, 116 S. West Street, Woodland Park, CO. to be followed by a full honorary military service at approximately 2:30pm at Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 3825 Airport Road., Colorado Springs, CO.
