Harriet Southcotte

Shawnee was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado to O.F. (Fred) Bishop Jr. and Yvonne Helen Schieder Bishop on March 5, 1954. Shawnee was the youngest of five children. Shawnee entered suddenly into the arms of Jesus on September 15, 2024.

Shawnee grew up on the west side of Colorado Springs, attending Buena Vista Elementary, West Junior High, and Coronado High School, graduating with the class of 1972.

Shawnee met John F. Southcotte on June 31, 1971, and they wed on June 28, 1974. They lived together in Cheyenne, WY (74-75), Colorado Springs, CO (75-80), Anaheim, Stanton, and Ontario CA (80-91) and back to Colorado Springs, CO (91-present).

Shawnee enjoyed playing 8 ball and Foosball, bowling in both mixed and women’s leagues, collecting dolls, (many that were made by her mother). She had many jobs during her lifetime. Most notably, waitressing at Henri’s Mexican Restaurant. She was a certified nurse’s aide at Hylond Home for Special Needs Children in Garden Grove CA. Shawnee worked at several Walgreen stores in Colorado Springs, Security, Fountain, and Pueblo. Shawnee began her career with Walgreens in 1992 and held the positions of Floor Clerk, Pharmacy Tech, Head Photo Clerk, Head Cashier, and Assistant Manager until her retirement in 2019.

Those family members predeceasing Shawnee include, her parents, brothers O.F. (Fred) Bishop III and Sam Bishop. Shawnee is survived by her loving husband of fifty years, John Southcotte, sister Fredda Brozek, and her brother Rick Bishop. Shawnee is also survived by Sisters-in-laws Carman Bishop, Linda Oase and Debbie Hamilton, brother-in-law James Patrick Southcotte and many nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews.

Shawnee was a longtime member and attender of the First Friends Church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. We now look forward to reuniting with Shawnee and others when Jesus Calls us home in the Resurrection.

A celebration of Shawnee’s life will be held 11:00 am October 3, 2024, at First Friends Church, 2748 E. Pikes Peak Ave. Colorado Springs, CO 80909
