Helen Brooks Brashear

Memorial services for Helen Brooks Brashear, age 94, of Tyler are scheduled for August 29, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado at 1pm with Reverend Dr. John Goodale officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Helen passed away on August 21, 2016 in Tyler. She was born on December 19, 1921 in Bryson City, North Carolina to Mr. and Mrs. Leslie C. Brooks. Services are under the direction of Swan Law Funeral Home in Colorado Springs.

Raised in North Carolina, Helen attended Duke University where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. After graduation she worked for the American Red Cross overseas during World War II. In November of 1950 she married Lt. Colonel Wesley C. Brashear. Helen is survived by her three children; Ann Fitzgerald of Tyler, Wesley C. Brashear, Jr. of Dallas, Jane Ross of Vail, Colorado, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley C. Brashear, Sr.

Pallbearers will be her four grandsons, Taylor Wesley Fitzgerald, Jackson Lee Fitzgerald, Wesley C. Brashear III, and Gavin McNeill.
