

Ian was born on October 3, 1979 in Bountiful, Colorado to Jack Phalen III and Revonna Farwell. He attended grade school in Buena Vista, Colorado before the family moved to Colorado Springs. He was a 1998 graduate of Doherty High School. Ian worked as a Tier 3 Tech Support Representative for Time Warner Cable.
Ian loved the outdoors and sports. He coached PeeWee Football and played flag football with his friends. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan. As a member of Austin Bluffs Community Church, for a time, Ian dedicated himself as one of the Men's Ministry leaders. Above all, Ian loved and treasured his family doing anything and everything in his capacity by being a loving husband and father. He was involved in every aspect of his childrens' lives from homework to after school sports or activities.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jinae Madrid; his daughters, Megan and Haley; his step-son, Faustin Madrid; his mother, Revonna Farwell; and Jinae’s parents, Faustin and Bobbie Madrid. He is also survived by his brothers, Joel (wife, Lisa) Farwell, Lucas (wife, Autumn) Phalen, and Baba Newton; his sisters, Aura (husband, Justin Otis) Farwell, Celeste (husband, Tanner) Crick, and Tara Phalen; his aunt, Deborah Nicolas; and his nieces and nephews, Lauryn Farwell, Kristen Farwell, Elijah Otis, Abigail Jimerson, Marlee Phalen, Maddox Phalen, and Lawrennce Harvey.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Austin Bluffs Community Church, 5090 Austin Bluffs Parkway.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation.
