Jane was born to Henley and Florence Haymaker on January 8, 1921 in Manhattan, Kansas where she was raised with her two brothers, Jack and Bob. She spent her childhood summer months vacationing in a cabin her father built in Green Mountain Falls, Colorado. She earned her college degree in Home Economics from Kansas State University, where her father was a distinguished professor.
Jane married Bob Floersch in Manhattan, Kansas on August 14, 1943. They grew up together living across the street from each other in Manhattan. Bob was good friends with Jane’s brother, Jack, and even joined Jane and the Haymaker family on their summer vacations to Green Mountain Falls. It was a union that was meant to be!
Bob and Jane successfully raised seven children together. Bob’s career took them to Kansas City, Missouri; Lamar, Missouri; Galesburg, Illinois and finally to Colorado Springs, Colorado where they purchased Wright Glass Company in August, 1971.
Jane was a full time homemaker who loved duplicate bridge, the Pi Beta Phi sorority and Patty Jewett Women’s Golf Club. She was also a very active and devout member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Jane was a sought after bridge player, a lifelong supporter of the sorority and a three time president and life member of the golf club.
Jane is preceded in passing by her husband, Bob Floersch and her brother, Jack Haymaker. Jane is survived by her brother, Bob (Sue) Haymaker, and her children; Bill (Alice) Floersch, Dick (Pat) Floersch, Bob (Jill) Floersch, Jim (Pat) Floersch, Don (Deb) Floersch, Janet (Jim) Van Zant, and Carol Ann (Tony)Salazar. She has eighteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Home Instead for the loving care they provided and to all of her wonderful friends and neighbors.
Private services were held Friday, Oct. 2nd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Donations can be sent to your favorite charity in Jane’s honor.
