She was born on November 23, 1938 in Wabash, Indiana the daughter of the late Harold Bechtelheimer and Helen (Butler) Helton. She was a 1957 graduate of Colorado Springs High School. She married Jay Daryl Cameron on August 16, 1958 in Norfolk, Virginia. The two of them moved back to Colorado Springs in 1960 where they raised their family. Janet enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. But mostly she enjoyed being together with Jay, the love of her life. After retirement they spent their golden years in Bull Head City, Arizona making many friends and enjoying an active life in the sunshine. Soon after Jay succumbed to leukemia in 2010, Janet’s health also began to decline. In 2014, she moved to be nearer to her daughter Denise. While in Virginia, she spent time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed telling stories and building memories at the beach. Janet loved people and touched the lives of many with her strong faith and unswerving confidence that God is in control of all things.
