

Jean Waind Thomson passed away peacefully on April 23, 2012. She was born June 14, 1931, in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Mark and Dora Waind. She graduated from nurses training in Grand Forks, ND in May 1953. On Sept. 6, 1953, Jean married Herb Thomson, who had just finished Medical School and who went on to become a pediatrician. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1956.
Jean was a member of the Junior League of Colorado Springs, founding Board member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Board member of the Debutante Ball of Colorado Springs, and was involved with many fund raising organizations over the years.
Jean is survived by three children: Barbie (George) Hess, Brian (Kristi) Thomson, and Heather (Kris) Burghart; as well as five grandchildren: Chris (Jessica) Hess, Mike Hess, Taylor (Ryan) Enos, Chase Thomson, and Logan Thomson; and two great grandchildren: Thomson and Garrison Hess. Jean also leaves behind two sisters-in-law, Tink Thomson and Geneva Waind, and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, one sister, and her loving husband, Dr. Herb Thomson.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm on May 5, 2012 at the Broadmoor Community Church, 315 Lake Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Broadmoor Community Church Memorial Fund, or a charity of your choice.
