

Mel Jaramillo was born November 10th, 1948 and was called to Heaven while hunting in Saguache Park with some of his best friends on November 5th, 2007.His 58 years of life was celebrated with a Memorial in his honor on Monday, November 12th, 10:00am, at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado.He was born in Cajilon, New Mexico to Albertina and Fedelino Jaramillo, deceased.He is survived by his wife of 29 years,Clare Mares-Jaramillo, his son, Rene’ Jaramillo, three daughters, Linda (Arnold) Pino, Amanda (JJ) Courtright, and Cassandra (James) Carter, 6 grandsons, Isaac, Trai, Tyler, Benjamin, Samuel and Aaron and 4 granddaughters, Alisha, Mia, Tea' and Molly. Mel had 3 great grandsons as well. He is also survived by his brother, Adonis Jaramillo, sisters, Priscilla (Scott) Peterson, Arsie (Rick) Costanza, Rosalie (James) Garcia, Step Father Florencio Leyba, and many nieces and nephews.Mel was a supervisor at Western Forge where he worked for 40 years. Many stories have been told about his compassion to those in need, his strong work ethic, and unwavering ability to assist his employees in their time of need.We dedicate Mel’s passion to the outdoors to those who spent time with him there. Of special importance were: Gerald Nehls, Joe Flores, Robert Blea, Jim Frankewich, Howard Maggard, Clyde Kawamata, Leroy Espinoza, and Joe Ortiz. Excursions included hunting elk, deer, and rattlesnake. He also enjoyed 4-wheeling, camping, shooting, fishing, watching the Steelers and Broncos, and being co-captain of the Neighborhood Watch Program.Mel was loved by many for his pot lucks, being a joker with a “unique” sense of humor, his patriotism, and a friend with a huge heart.
