

Joe was born Aug. 31, 1952, in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Miguel and Carmen (Rodriguez) Gonzalez who preceded him into eternal life. He was a Colorado Springs resident for 37 years and was married June 29, 2002, in Colorado Springs and is survived by Marian (Biancuzzo) Gonzalez. He is also survived by two daughters, Casey App of San Diego and Lisa Akens of Canon City; two sons, Jose Jr. of Baltimore and John of Colorado Springs; three siblings, sister Maria Camacho, brother Edward both of Colorado Springs, and Lillian “De” of Castle Rock; three grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.
Joe was an avid golfer and sports fan; he loved his Dodgers (and Vin Scully), Broncos, and Penn State Nittany Lions; and was a master at Trivial Pursuit. He was Honorably Discharged from the United States Air Force in 1975 and continued in Federal Service as a Revenue Agent for the Internal Revenue Service and retired in January 2012. In retirement, he loved nothing more than spending time with his beloved wife and grandchildren. He also volunteered his time to his parish, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
There will be a rosary at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 626 Aspen Dr. Colorado Springs, with a funeral mass officiated by Rev. Stéphane Dupré to follow at 10 a.m. Internment will be at Memorial Gardens, 3825 Airport Road, at 1 p.m.
