Joy is survived by her brothers Michael Barrett, Dean and Dale Moeller, and sister Dianne and her nieces and nephews Mari, Ryan, Levi and Emily.
Joy was born in Reno Nevada in 1953 to Pat and LTC Robert Barrett. In her youth as a “military brat”, Joy lived in Monterey California, Frankfort Germany, Lincoln Nebraska, Tucson Arizona, and Washington D.C. before settling in Colorado Springs in the early 60’s where she lived the rest of her life. She graduated from Air Academy High School in 1971 and received a BA from Washburn University in 1977.
Joy was hard to keep up with at AAHS: Cheerleader, Snowball Queen, debutante, Ski Racer, and she served on many school clubs.
Joy’s passport was filled with stamps from her many adventures visiting different parts of the world with her family and friends. Whether it was hiking Machu Picchu, exploring Italy, or cruising Alaska, Joy always had a packed bag ready to go.
After retiring from the service industry in 2013, Joy spent her retirement years hiking, attending live music and theater events, raising her dogs and traveling with her friends.
There will be a celebration of her life March 6 from 12-4 at Thunder and Buttons. Please let us know if you plan to attend at [email protected]
