I met Julie the 1st day of 1st grade & graduated with her in '68. She was so smart & always so kind.  She never had a negative word to say about anyone.  My condolences to her family. May she rest in peace.

Like Cheryl, I met Julie in 2002 via the CCCOnline Faculty role. For many years to follow, she was a mentor, coach, confidant, and friend-colleague. To say that Julie had a profound impact on me as a person and as a "distance learning" professional is an understatement. 

Her candid commentary, warm smile and bemused smirks, her creative, insightful analogies, her refreshing authenticity that she radiated and I've found too often unparalleled in professional spheres, and her willingness to inspire ... and be inspired ... are the characteristics I'll cherish in memory of this lovely lady!

I browsed the photos, and Julie was clearly blessed with family and friends. Even though her life was cut far, far too short, it looks like she had a life very well lived and one with a true legacy as a teacher and as a grandmother. I had known Julie at work for a long time, but lost touch after she retired. We share a common place of birth, Indiana, and sometimes talked Indiana "stuff." She worked pretty closely with the Marketing department and George Sanchez while in charge of the TV station and distance learning, etc. so I got to see her a lot during that time. She was always friendly, smiling, and calm when I was around her. I remember her coming in to work during her first battle with cancer. There were times you could tell she didn't feel good at all, but she showed up and did her job anyway. I admired her positive attitude as she fought the Big C. I suspect Julie just kept on living her life, fighting the good fight, and trying to stay positive to the end. RIP, Julie. Soar with the angels now!

I met Julie during the Fall of 2002 at the CCCOnline New Faculty Orientation.  I will always remember Julie's warm smile and wonderful laugh.  She was always very helpful and  had good advise, and ideas to share about the online and on-ground classrooms.  The last time I saw and spoke with Julie was just before she retired, she was so excited to finally enjoy well earned time and experiences with her closest family and friends.  While we were not extremely close, I will always remember her as a friend.  My warmest regards to those of you who were close. I'm sure I'm not speaking out of turn when I say, Julie was a dear and will be greatly missed by many in the CCCO system, and other Colorado Colleges state-wide.

Julie was always the nicest person. Always smiling and I remember she was so smart in school. What a wonderful person with a beautiful personality. We graduated together, Monroeville high school  class of 1968.  We sure missed Julie at our 50 year alumni celebration a few weeks ago. My prayers go out to her brother John and her family.

Julie was one of the best teachers I’ve ever had.  It was a Summer lit class elective that spawned a wonderful discussion group comprised of young men who were, for the first time, excited about reading and sharing what they learned.  I know the flame she lit in the hearts and minds of those she touched will burn forever more.

Julie and I were classmates for 12 wonderful years. There were 33 in our graduating class. We just celebrated our 50th anniversary this past June. 9 of the 33 attended. 

It’s funny to me that the witch theme is mentioned in others’ memories.  When I first met Julie, she and I and another friend called ourselves “The Witches of Eastwick”!  We had so much fun together, and being “witchy” was part of the fun.   I will miss you, Julie. I know you fought the good fight.

Julie was always an admirable colleague. She maintained integrity through the slings and arrows of workplace politics. I first knew her as the special friend of my dean--they took classes together, I believe, to advance their opportunities. Times were hard when those politics intervened, but Julie rose above it to remain collegial. My favorite times with her were when I taught on TV and she was the director of that program. I could always bring to her any ideas or issues and know she would address them with sound judgment. As others have noted, she had lots of Wizard of Oz memorabilia in her office, which I enjoyed too. Each year she let me borrow her life-sized cut out of "the Wicked Witch of the West" to stand next to me on screen when I taught the history of Halloween or the political symbolism behind the story. She encouraged me in that kind of teaching even though it was controversial for some people. She could not stand to get too close to my other props, though, because I had some figures of crows. She had a fear of birds, she confided.

When my father was dying in Pikes Peak Hospice (blessed care hospice later gave her too), I needed to rush to his side. My TV class coincided. Julie said they could play the previous year's tape. They did. When I arrived in his room, they had the TV on. That class was playing. I believe he was hearing my voice even before I arrived. Thank you Julie.  

I love her laughter.  Julie was so sweet and caring, my love and understanding to  her family and friends.  She will be missed. 

Julie was my boss when I worked in Distance Ed. Her office was a Wizard of Oz shrine. I remember how she also loved the spider from The Hobbit trilogy and her wonderful Christmas Eve parties. She will be missed by many. 

The thing I remember the most about Julie was her love for "The Wizard of Oz" - when you went into her office she had a life size picture of the Wicked Witch of the West and various other "toys" from the movie.  She was a fun and  kind person who loved her family immensely.  I am very sorry to hear of your loss, cherish the memories.
