

Katherine Dines of Colorado Springs, Colorado was born on June 18, 1984 and passed away on July 10, 2014. She spent most of her life in Colorado Springs, having attended Canon Elementary, The Colorado Springs School and Fountain Valley High School from which she graduated in 2002 with honors. She then attended Tulane University where she was involved in the Phi Beta Kappa society and spent her junior year at St. Andrews in Scotland. Due to Hurricane Katrina, she then attended University of Denver to finish her senior year and graduate with honors from Tulane University in 2006. Since graduation, Katie had become interested in disaster awareness, planning and resource utilization. She had completed multiple incident command systems courses through the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. Katie had become an involved member of the community, specifically related to her work with the Red Cross – where she primarily assisted with efforts related to the fires throughout Colorado including the Waldo Canyon fire.
Those who were friends, family, co-workers and even acquaintances would recognize and will surely remember her for her genuine personality and love of life. She will be incredibly missed and often thought of by those that survive her: Father, Thomas M. Dines of Breckenridge, Colorado; Grandmother, Suzanne Hodgeman of Madison, Wisconsin; sister, Megan Dines Koncal and Brother in law, Scott Koncal with her nephew Gavin Koncal of Dayton, Ohio; Uncles Anselm Dines of Boulder, Colorado and Lee Dines of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by many other family members throughout Colorado and Ohio. In lieu of flowers, any donations may be directed to – American Red Cross and/or ASPCA.
