Katherine D. Steverson was born December 15, 1981, in Gainesville, Florida to the late Ray C. Cooley, Sr., and Cynthia A. Kelly. Katherine was fondly known as “Katt”. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at age 17 and was later baptized at Turning Point Deliverance Church in Philadelphia, PA. Her favorite Bible scriptures were Psalm 23 and 27.
Katherine attended Colorado, Florida, and Pennsylvania Public Schools. She received her degree as a Massage Therapist from the Professional Massage Therapy Institute of Philadelphia. Katherine also received her Certifications as a Nurse’s Aide and Home Health Care Provider in 2017. Kevin and Katherine Stevenson were united in marriage in 1999, and from this union, they have two children, Phillip G. and Cynthia D. Stevenson. Despite life's ups and downs, Katherine remained steadfast in faith in Jesus Christ. While in pursuit of love and happiness, she met Raymond Dawson, and from this union, they have a son, Jeremiah Dawson.
As Katherine strived to overcome life's struggles and hardships, she met Chris Baylor, and from this union, they have a daughter, Eva “Lil Miss Eva” Baylor. It was during this relationship that Katherine grew fond of motorcycle riding. In 2013, Katherine returned to Colorado Springs with her children in pursuit of a better life for them. She attended Colorado Springs Apostolic Church. Katherine loved gospel music! One of her favorite times was listening to gospel music while singing along with Eva.
Katherine had “Gifted Hands” for taking old furniture and restoring it to a beautiful treasure. Man’s expression of, “One Man’s Trash is Another Man’s Treasure,” proved to be true as Katherine exhibited her upholstery and furniture restoration skills. Katherine was an awesome cook! Whether she prepared a garlicky seafood dish or a pot of hot and zesty pig feet, she knew how to satisfy your appetite. We will miss the special moments of eating and laughing with her. If Katherine knew you had a need and she could assist you, she would give you the shirt of her back. That was the kind of love she possessed. Katherine’s witty personality and charismatic smile will truly be missed by her family and friends.
Katherine leaves to cherish her memories, her children: Philip Steverson of Tempe, Arizona; Cynthia Steverson, Jeremiah Dawson, and Eva Baylor of Colorado Springs, Colorado, her parents: Leroy Jr and Cynthia Kelly of Colorado Springs, Colorado, her grandparents: Odell and Martha Ford of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Leroy Sr. and Bettye Kelly of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
