It is with heavy hearts yet deep gratitude for the time we shared that we announce Kathleen M. Beaty’s passing away on Friday, March 22, 2024, after battling multiple health issues. She was surrounded by the love and prayers of family.
Kathleen was born and raised in Lawrence, Kansas, the daughter of Cleveland and Mildred Dunigan, both of whom preceded her in death, along with her brother C. Eugene (Gene) Dunigan, and her husband, Joseph Beaty. Kathleen and Joseph were married in Lawrence, Kansas, on June 12, 1954, at Saint John’s Catholic Church. Together, they raised 7 children, all of whom survive her, along with 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Kathleen spent 24 years as a military wife, supporting her husband and raising their seven children through numerous relocations taking the family from Kansas to Izmir, Turkey; Moses Lake, Washington; Peru, Indiana and ending in Roy, Utah. After retirement they settled in Montrose, Colorado, in July 1981, where they became integral members of the community and Saint Mary’s Catholic Church. Kathleen shared her strong faith by participating in prayer groups, retreat teams, and offering her heart as a friend and confidant to anyone in need. She dedicated her time volunteering throughout the Montrose community at the visitor center, organizing bridge games for the senior center, and working at the Montrose Regional Health Center. She also enjoyed traveling, playing Bridge, reading and was a devoted KU basketball fan.
In June 2022, Kathleen moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she was embraced by the Summit Glen community and forged many meaningful friendships.
Kathleen was not just a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, grandmother and great grandmother; she was also the Best Friend to so many, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, wisdom, wit, and wonder; qualities that will endure through the grace and love she bestowed upon us all.
