

She graduated high school in Story City and started nursing school in Iowa City. She spent several years working in the medical field in Kansas City, MO.
On May 1, 1955, she married the love of her life, Kendall L. “Ken” Stewart. They were married 44 years until he passed away on May 22, 1999.
Kay and Ken spent 20 years with the US Army, moving multiple times to Georgia, Texas, Germany and Colorado, and went apart 2 years while he was in Vietnam.
They lived in Monument, CO, for the next 30 years. Following his death, she moved to Colorado Springs, where she spent the rest of her life.
She enjoyed traveling, sewing, cooking, melodramas/musicals, chocolate malts and old-fashioned ragtime piano tunes – not to forget the occasional glass of wine!
Kay will most be remembered for her devotion to family and fondly remembered for her holiday baking and her expressions, “I Swanee!”, “Hell’s Bell’s”, and “Wouldn’t that just frost ya!”.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother, Ray Sinn Jr., and her beloved pet, Gigi.
She is survived by her son, Mark Stewart, of Colorado Springs, and her daughter, Kristin (Vince) Snyder, of Parker, four grandchildren and eighter great grandchildren; Joshua (Lacey) Snyder with Gwyneth and Evelyn, Nathan (Michell) Snyder with Henry, Matthew, Walter, Kathryn, and William. Lindsay Snyder, Kelsey (Darren) Forman with Adelaide.
Per Kay’s request, she will have a private burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
