Kevin was born on Wednesday, July 28, 1971, to Gary and Janice Vines in Farmington, MO. Kevin’s life
was different than most, as he was born with Spina Bifida, which resulted in paralysis of his legs and
many surgeries in his young life. Kevin’s spirit was never dimmed by this reality. Throughout Kevin’s
life, his family moved several times, each time allowing Kevin to spread his positive outlook and make a
difference in the lives that he touched. As a result, Kevin had a very large network of friends, many of
which he continued to keep in touch with throughout his life. While he may have been hundreds of
miles away from most friends and family, the development of social media allowed him to continue
daily contact with those closest to him. Kevin was an avid chess player and a sports enthusiast,
specifically Cardinals Baseball. When he was younger, he was a boy scout, loved horror films and
became quite proficient in most video games. His knowledge of 80’s trivia and all things sports stats
goes unmatched. Kevin’s spark for life, family, friends, and faith was felt by many.
Kevin is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Firmin and Shirley Newcomer, of Bonne Terre, MO
and his paternal grandparents, Bob Sr., and Norma Vines, of Desloge, MO. He is survived by his parents
Gary and Janice Vines, his brother Kyle Vines, his sister Stephanie Cooper (Chris Cooper) and one
nephew and niece. Kevin attended primary school in Vandalia, MO and secondary school in Jacksonville,
IL. He graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1989.

be made in his name to The National Sports Center for the Disabled www.nscd.org, an organization that was near and dear to Kevin and provided him the means to enjoy the sport of snow skiing in the Colorado Rockies alongside his family.
