Leonelo Ramon Jimenez Jr. passed away in mid July. He was a humble man with a bright smile and contagious laugh. He was hard working and committed to providing for his family. To his grandchildren he was known as Papi- a bringer of gifts, occasional Santa impersonator and loyal fan attending soccer and basketball games as well as school performances.
Outside of his family, his other love was baseball. He volunteered for almost 15 years with Cherry Creek Little League and was poised to begin a new chapter of coaching with Colorado Springs Little League before the delay of this year’s season. Many knew him simply as Coach Leo - a mentor to players and an advocate for helping kids achieve a passion for the game along with the development of their skills.
Those called home before him included his parents Leonelo and Beatriz Jimenez; brother Luis Jimenez and sister Raquel Jimenez Vela.
He is survived by his sons Zach Jimenez (wife Jackie) and Carlos Jimenez (wife Lindsay); Two grandsons, Isaiah & Gabe; a granddaughter who will arrive in the fall; Two sisters, Rebecca Jimenez (wife Marta), Guadalupe Dunaway; Eight brothers, Alfonzo Jimenez, Juan Manuel Jimenez (wife Ofeila), Fernando Jimenez (wife Blanca), Isauro Jimenez, Guillermo Jimenez (wife Mary Anne), Daniel Jimenez, Gerardo Jimenez (wife Michelle), and Gilberto Jimenez.
In lieu of flowers we are encouraging gifts to be made to support the Colorado Springs Little League Scholarship fund. If you are interested in making a donation, please send an email with a pledge to: [email protected].
