Lorraine Beatrice Dorbin, age 85, passed away on May 31, 2021. She was born to John and Beatrice Doktor in Mishawaka, Indiana, and was the oldest of two children. She graduated from Mishawaka High School and completed several years of study at Purdue University. She married George Dorbin on November 9, 1957. Lorraine worked as an Executive Assistant for several years to provide support while George finished college. In 1965 they moved to Boulder Colorado, where she raised their four children.
Lorraine always made her home a place of hospitality for family and friends. Lorraine was a wonderful mother and raised her children to follow the Christian faith. She loved her children and especially her 6 grandchildren. She was an active member and leader of the Women’s Aglow ministry in Boulder. Lorraine had a wonderful smile and a fun sense of humor.
When George retired in 1993, they purchased a home in Surprise, Arizona at Happy Trails retirement community. They began a 23-year adventure spending half of the year in Arizona and the other half in Colorado. Lorraine and George relocated from Boulder to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1996. She was an avid quilter, producing many beautiful quilts for her grown children, grandchildren and extended family. She taught quilting classes in the community while in Arizona and became president of the quilting club at Happy Trails.
Lorraine is survived by her husband George; children Patrick (Kathy), James (Fatima), Helen Collins (Darren), Laura; and her six grandchildren. Lorraine is also survived by her younger brother John (Jeane).
