Margaret Solano

Margaret was born on May 4, 1939, in Fort Collins, Colorado to Jose Benjamin Acosta and Ruth Garcia. Margaret was the 3rd of 12 children she grew up in Pueblo, Co. Her and her siblings would go to work on the farms picking fresh vegetables in the summer. They had numerous cousins who they grew up with and spent much of their time in each other’s company. Margaret graduated from Central High School in 1958.

In high school Margaret met the love of her life Dale Solano. They married on July 2, 1960 and have been married for 63 years. They moved to Colorado Springs and had 8 children, Dal, Robin, Carol, Kristie, Donny, Ruthie, Rosie and Andrea. Over the years they often took in other family members when they needed a place to stay, and their home was referred to as the “Solano Boarding House”. Their home was always open to anyone needing a place to stay or a cup of coffee for the road. Margaret made the best salsa around and it was always requested at family events.

Margaret is survived by her loving and devoted husband Dale Solano, Her children Dal Solano (Vickey), Carol Soleau (Jason), Kristie Solano, Donny Solano (Gabby), Ruthie Solano, Rosie Snow (Chad) and Andrea Solano. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Margaret also had numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents Jose Benjamin Acosta and Ruth Garcia, her siblings Sally Johnston, Vicky Acosta, Benjamin Acosta, daughter Robin Bloom, son-in law Troy Bloom and grandson Dawson Bloom.

A viewing will be held on June 28th from 9:00 to 9:45 am with services to follow at 10:00 at Swan-Law Funeral home 501 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, Colorado. The burial will be at Memorial Gardens following services. A celebration of life will follow at the Copa Cabana Event Hall at 2410 S. Academy Blvd. Colorado Springs, Colorado.
