Maria S Miles

March 25th, 2017. Maria is survived by her husband, Patrick Miles, her

two daughters Christine Kincaid and Elaine Vassos, and her fourteen grand-

children and her four great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her

parents Savas and Irene Douvas, her sister Angeline Douvas, and her grand-

daughter Jessica Harvey. Maria was born in Denver on March 9th, 1942. She

graduated from Colorado University, Boulder with a BA in Spanish Language, and

then pursued her Masters in Cell Biology at the University of Colorado

Medical Center, Denver. In addition, she was a teacher and certified nutritionist.

She met her husband Patrick in Boulder. They were married October 28th,

1966. During a military stationing in Japan, they were welcomed by their

two daughters, Christine (November 29th, 1967) and Elaine (July 18th, 1969).

Maria was a devoted Catholic, and had a passion for spending time with God,

her family, health care, and nutrition. She enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking,

researching, and teaching. She was a Spanish school teacher in California, and

later on, homeschooled a few of her grandchildren.She impacted every life she

came in contact with, and was loved by all who knew her. She will be deeply

missed, but never forgotten. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00am on

Tuesday, April 4th at Holy Apostles Catholic Church (4925 N. Carefree Cir). A

viewing will be Monday, April 3rd, at Swan Law Funeral Home (501 N.

Cascade Ave) from 4-6 p.m., followed by a rosary service from 6-8pm.
