Marilyn White, age 96, passed away peacefully, after a short illness, on June 22, 2016 in Colorado Springs at a local senior living facility.
Marilyn was born in Niagara Falls, N.Y., attended Niagara Falls High School and graduated William Smith College in Geneva, N.Y. in 1941, with a degree in business. Her senior year, she was elected president of the Student Government Council, the college's highest honor, as well as being selected to represent William Smith College in “Who's Who In American Colleges and Universities” in the 1940 issue of their national publication. Marilyn was also a long time member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
In October 1942, Marilyn married her husband, Paul White and after many years in the Niagara Falls area, moved to Colorado Springs with her family in 1961. Marilyn returned to Colorado College to obtain a teaching certificate and was a teacher and Dean of Girls for School for District 11 in Colorado Springs.
Upon retirement, Marilyn and Paul traveled extensively, reluctantly gave up their ski cabin in Breckenridge, Colorado and found a winter retreat on the Sea of Cortez in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico where they built a house, and enjoyed golf, fishing and boating, entertaining and a good game of Bridge for more than 30 years.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Marcy W. Rogers and a grandson, Jeffrey M. Rogers. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Paul and her son, Paul Michael White.
A marine memorial service will be held on the Sea of Cortez at a future date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to an animal shelter of the donor's choice.
