Mary Bourgault, beloved wife of 56 years to Bertrand (Frenchie) Bourgault, passed away on October 7, 2011. She was born in Wakefield, England on June 22, 1933, the third of four children born to the late John Jessop and Annie Lewis. After graduation, Mary was a Lance Corporal in the British Royal Army Corps, working as a switchboard operator, when she crossed lines with Frenchie Bourgault. Their romance blossomed and, as a result, they had four devoted children: Steve, Greg, David and Michelle. Mary’s family was the most important thing in her life and she loved to tell anyone who would listen what fabulous children and grandchildren she had. She loved animals and treated them like members of the family. “Mrs. Mary” was a long-time volunteer as a “Grandfriend” at the Jefferson Elementary School library. She was a fascinating storyteller, and the children loved to listen to her beautiful British accent. She was a talented artist in many ways, and especially loved to make porcelain dolls, many of which are award-winning works. Her family fondly remembers her intellect, compassion and especially her wit. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, devoted husband Bertrand (Frenchie) Bourgault, and loving children: Steven Bourgault of Ft. Collins, CO, Greg Bourgault of Lehighton, PA, David Bourgault of Colorado Springs, CO and Michelle Bourgault of San Francisco, CA; and her precious grandchildren: Megan Bourgault, Kara Billingsley, David Bourgault, Aubrey Bourgault, Gaby Bourgault, Maddy Bourgault, Nicholas Bourgault and Sarah Thornburg. Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
