

Mary Louise Caudill passed away on December 6, 2010 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Colorado Springs.
Mrs. Caudill married Henry H. Perkins in 1960. Following his death in 1992, she married Dr. Paul Caudill, Sr. and moved with him to Memphis, TN and Boone, NC. She returned to Colorado Springs following Dr. Caudill’s death in 2002.
Mrs. Caudill was born May 23, 1921, in Bloomington, IL, and grew up in Chicago. She moved to Colorado in 1958 and taught English and journalism at Colorado Springs, later Palmer, High School. She loved Colorado, skiing, golfing and traveling.
Active in Republican affairs for many years, she was a vice-chairman of the El Paso County Republican Central Committee in the 1960s, and a precinct committeewoman for 14 years. Mrs. Caudill was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, and wrote The Centennial History of Grace Episcopal Church in 1972. She formerly was president of Episcopal Churchwomen there. She was president of the Woman’s Educational Society in 1984, and she served on other boards in community affairs.
Mrs. Caudill was a graduate of the University of Texas, and received a master’s degree in education from George Washington University. She taught in Arlington County, VA and worked in the public information section of the Red Cross national headquarters in Washington, D.C. Earlier, she had been a newspaper reporter and radio scriptwriter in Memphis, TN. She frequently substituted for Caroline Brown in writing ‘Round Town for the Gazette-Telegraph. The Tuesday Luncheon Club honored Mrs. Caudill in June 2010.
Mrs. Caudill’s son, John Warren Miller, preceded her in death. She leaves a daughter, Ellen Perkins Ivey Bates of Conecticut and a son, John H. Perkins, of Washington. She also leaves three children, Paul Caudill, Jr. of Tennessee, Netta Sue McKnight of North Carolina, and David Caudill of North CarolinaC.
A memorial service will be at Grace Episcopal Church 601 North Tejon Street on Saturday, December 11 at 3 p.m. with private burial in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Episcopal Church or to a charity of their choice.
