

Mary E. (Pate) Wagner, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on April 28, 2016 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was the wife of Larry Wagner. They shared 57 years of marriage together.
Mary was born in Springer, New Mexico, July 5, 1936 to the late Fred and Margaret Pate. Mary graduated from Colorado Springs (Palmer) High School in 1954. After graduation she worked at Clifton Precision and First National Bank; before her fulfilling her life-long dream of opening her own business, a home day care. Mary had an ultimate love of being around children; whether they were her own, her grandchildren, or the children that she took care of on a regular basis. She had treated the children of her daycare as one of her own.
Mary was a member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed the serenity of the beach, travelling, road trips, camping, boating, and family get togethers. Some of Mary’s fond memories of a teenager included Garden of the Gods, Gold Camp Road, and Cruising Nevada. Many laughs were had with Mary around her dining table while playing Skip Bo.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Wagner; loving children - Derek Wagner and D’Ann (Wagner) Area (husband – Bob Area). Grandchildren – Justin Wagner, Lindsey Area, Jared Wagner, and Ashlee Area. Great Grandson – Tyler Wagner.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 3:00 p.m., at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. Visitation will take place immediately following the Celebration of Life from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.. The burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, P.O. Box 2151, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38101-2151 in Mary’s name.
