Max Ray Jelinek passed away suddenly on August 20th, 2010. Max was born in Weston, Nebraska to Frank A. and Anna Marie (Chmelka) Jelinek. He graduated from high school in Malmo, Nebraska. Max was drafted into the US Army in 1945. He passed his physical but the next day he came down with Rheumatic Fever and was bedridden for the next year. Max was again drafted into the US Army in 1951. He again passed his physical and was sent to Fort Campbell, Kentucky and was trained in demolition and plastic explosives. While in the service he met and married Jeanette Rae Plunk in 1952. They took up residence in Wahoo, Nebraska for three years or so. They then moved to Colorado Springs around 1955. Jeanette was taken in an automobile accident in 1973. Max met and married Sandra Gale Whitaker in 1974. They have been married for 36 years.
Dedicated to his family Max is survived by his wife, Sandra, his sons Rod (and wife Jayne) of Firestone, CO and Jack (and wife Kim) of Hudson, WI; his daughter, Margaret (and husband Greg) Crippen of Pueblo, CO; his stepdaughter, Kimberly Mau of Colorado Springs, CO; his stepson, Paul Adam Burkhart of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Melissa Jelinek, Doug Crippen, Jessica Garcia, Karin Jelinek, Adam Jelinek, J J Kidd, Jeff Burkhart and eleven great grandchildren as well as his brothers, Donald Jelinek and Francis Jelinek of Wahoo, NE; sisters, Adeline Johnson and Dorothy Slemin of Wahoo NE and Shirley Ingram of Plattsmouth NE; brother-in-law, Wayne Pryor of Colorado Springs and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jeanette, sisters, Leona Parker, Sylvia Mattson and Ann Marie Jelinek.
Max held positions of work through the years including Grocery Business and the School District 11 Paint Department retiring after twenty six years. Max then started his own Painting Home Maintenance/Repair Business. He worked for Commercial Design for ten years as Warehouse Maintenance and proudly continued working well into his eighties for Sherwin Williams.

Max will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.
A Visitation will be held from 10am to 2pm with the Service taking place at 2:00pm with the burial to follow. All will take place on August 27th, 2010 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery.
