Melissa P. Tanguay, beloved wife, mother, daughter, friend, sister, niece, and cousin, passed away on June 13, 2019, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, August 30, 1985, the first of three children born to Cindy Kerwin and the late David Kerwin.
Melissa graduated from Coronado High School in 2003. She was pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in her true passion, software engineering, through Arizona State University online while taking care of her two boys. She explored many different jobs including computer programming and software engineering at Apple and CVS.
Melissa was a fearless and adventurous person, who cherished her friends and family dearly. She was a black belt in Kempo Karate, a talented artist, and an avid gamer. There were few challenges that she ever backed down from and she could always be counted on to try something new. She loved snowboarding, Donkey Kong, eating sushi, playing Cards Against Humanity, spending time with her friends, and so much more.
She is survived by her husband, Jay Tanguay; sons, Finn and Jay Jr.; mother, Cindy; sisters, Teresa and Brenna; as well as a host of wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will take place Friday, June 21, 2019, from 4:00-8:00p.m, at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. A funeral service with reception will take place from 10:00 am-2:00p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs.
