

Miguel Bernardo Garza passed away on July 14, 2023. He is survived by his parents Juan and Teresa (Rivas), brothers John and wife Terra (Fagundes), Tony and wife Leslie (Ketcham), uncles/aunts Manuel Garza and wife Leigh Ann (Rose), Al Garza and wife Gloria (Rivera), and Roberto Garza and wife Blanca (Pro), Samuel Rivas Jr. and wife Olivia (Rodriguez), Alicia (Rivas) Ramirez, Maria (Rivas) Buentello, Juan Rivas and wife Edna (Navarro). He is a graduate of Wasson High School and Colorado College. While attending Oral Roberts University he was a dorm resident assistant and obtained his EMT certification so he could go on medical mission trips to Ghana and Azerbaijan. He worked in the restaurant industry for over 20 years and previously owned restaurants in California and Colorado.
Born in Laredo TX and as a military dependent lived in Texas, Hawaii, Arizona, Okinawa, and Mississippi. He enjoyed traveling so after graduating from Colorado College, he and his brother John embarked on a two-month backpacking trip across Europe visiting over a dozen countries. A few years later, they also traveled to Argentina.
He loved God and as a licensed minister, performed wedding ceremonies for friends and his brother Tony. A talented handy-man, he built furnishings for his Colorado Springs restaurant Vinum Populi and Clutch in Venice Beach.
He enjoyed the outdoors, playing the guitar, and taking his dog Ruger for walks. His smile, laugh, and hugs will be greatly missed.
