Born in Cummin, KS, Myra was raised in Mountain View, MO. In 1947, she moved to Colorado Springs, where she approached life with steady determination and a willingness to work hard, taking on various jobs, including at Cragmoor Sanitorium.
In 1948, Myra married Samuel J. Cannella. Together they raised four sons: Donald Eugene, Samuel Joseph Jr, Ronald Earl, and George Allen Cannella. Widowed in 1997, Myra continued forward with the same devoted spirit that shaped her life and home. She lived in her own home in 2023, and later was a resident for 2 1/2 years at Bethesda Gardens at ViewPointe Community until her passing.
Myra was an excellent homemaker whose loyalty and devotion were expressed in the daily, faithful care she gave to her family. She was known for being helpful and detail oriented, providing an orderly, safe, clean home and a stable environment in which to raise her boys and support her husband in his careers.
She found purpose and quiet joy in the routines and interests that suited her careful, artistic eye—cleaning, gardening, painting, and working word searches and puzzles. She also enjoyed traveling, and her steady faith was reflected in her love of reading her Bible and daily devotions. Myra attended Rocky Mountain Calvary Church.
Myra loved all her family, siblings, her mother and in-laws, holding close the bonds that mattered most and offering her care in ways both practical and enduring. Her legacy is one of devotion, perseverance, and the lasting strength of a life built on service to others.
The family would like to thank Myra's caregiver, Linda Hofer, and all of the community at ViewPointe Assisted Living.
A Memorial Service celebrating Myra's life will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Rocky Mountain Calvary Church, 4285 N Academy Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80918.
Myra will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs, CO.
