Obituario de Nancy Victoria Anderson
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Mountain View Funeral & Cremation

Nancy Victoria Anderson, of Colorado Springs, passed away on April 3, 2025, with her husband of thirty-one years, Dr. Harry (Andy) Anderson, by her side. Andy has since passed away on April 23, 2025. Vicki is survived by her sister, Catherine Adams, son Tadd and daughter Heather, stepchildren Erin, Tim, and Clif, grandchildren Jed, Tucker, Tanner, Kinsey, Isaac, and Jack, and her great granddaughter, Adelaide.

Born on November 10, 1946, Vicki grew up in Littleton, Colorado. She attended Adams State University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education, and later earned a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. For over three decades, Vicki’s excellence in teaching lifted up hundreds of young people. In addition to her years as an elementary school classroom teacher, Vicki also specialized in working with students with autism, Reactive Attachment Disorder, intellectual disability, and was an expert in teaching those with learning challenges. From 1982-2004, Vicki taught for the Cheyenne Mountain School District at Broadmoor Elementary. In those twenty-two years, Vicki served as a passionate, master educator. She developed the innovative Continuum program at Broadmoor, combining first, second, and sometimes third grade students with team teaching focused on reaching each and every student. David Peak, Vicki’s teaching partner for seven years (now Cheyenne Mountain’s superintendent), says that Vicki taught him, “the true meaning of doing what’s best for every single student. Her passion, love, and unapologetic commitment for kids is still a part of who I am as a professional educator.” Vicki was an active member of the Cheyenne Mountain Education Association for many years, and for a period of time, served as the head of the association. When Vicki retired from teaching, she spent several years chairing the board of a women’s shelter that was part of Lutheran Family Services. She was particularly enthusiastic about the parenting classes provided by the organization, a testament to her lifelong dedication to, and passion for, education.

As anyone who knew Vicki or has been to Vicki’s home can attest, she was an aesthete who appreciated good cuisine, flowers, furnishing, clothing, and conversation. Always interested in politics and philosophy, Vicki loved political debate and learning about cultures and ways of life different from our own. She enjoyed travel and art, prose and poetry, and always a delicious meal shared with family and friends engaged in discussion - preferably intellectual - and laughter. Vicki loved to hear us laugh, and she herself was known to periodically break down into fits of uncontrollable giggling, particularly with her sister! A little known fact, Vicki was also an avid sports fan, and she spent many a weekend focused on football. Perhaps Vicki’s sweetest spot, however, was reading to children, be they her own kids, her grandchildren, her students, or the children of friends. Juniper, one of her friend’s daughters, said it best, “Vicki will always exist to me in a beam of sunlight in your living room, reading with me on the couch. I hope that now she is somewhere equally lovely and peaceful to that moment.” No doubt, she is.

A celebration of life for both Vicki and Andy will be held in Colorado Springs, Saturday, June 21st at the family home, 215 Hidden Creek Drive, from 1-5 pm. Please bring your favorite framed photo of you with Andy, Vicki, or with both of them. We will be displaying the images to help share the stories of their lives.
