

56 year resident of Colorado Springs passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family after a brief illness. Oskar Krause was born in Alt Postal, Bessarabia, Romania. After immigrating to Germany he met Hilda Langer and they were married on November 5, 1949. They immigrated to the United States in 1952 settling first in North Dakota, then Minnesota and finally in Colorado Springs in 1958.
Oskar built the last two homes that they lived in, and as a proud member of the Carpenter’s Union he worked on buildings from NORAD and Air Force Academy, to as far away as Denver and Limon. He was happiest when he was working, and even after retiring he stayed busy improving home and yard and helping his children however he could.
Oskar and Hilda also enjoyed dancing with the Austrian American Enzian Club. Oskar was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 61 years, Hilda, one sister and three brothers. He is survived by his sister-in-law Mina Rulitschka of Germany, daughter Ursula (Pat) Sprowell, sons Henry (Barbara), Rudy (Jamie) and Arthur (Bette) all from Colorado Springs. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Oskar was the rock of the Krause family and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice. A memorial service will be held at Mountain View Mortuary; 2350 Montebello Square Drive, Colorado Springs, on Saturday, August 30 at 11:00 a.m..
