Born on May 26, 1944, in Wichita, Kansas, Pat was a beacon of independence, energy, and ceaseless activity throughout her life, marked by her unwavering dedication to children and community service. Moving throughout her childhood due to her father’s military assignments, Pat attended grade schools in Alsaka, Oklahoma, Kansas, California, Tripoli, and Lybia, and graduated from high school in Clovis, New Mexico in 1962. She briefly studied nursing at Texas Tech and Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Lubbock, Texas before leaving school to marry and begin her family. She later earned an Early Childhood Certification in 1995 from Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she was a resident for nearly 50 years.
Following a 30-year career as a telephone operator with AT&T, she retired in 1997. Post-retirement, Pat opened a home daycare and provided foster care service for many years, affectionately becoming "Grandma Pat" to over 100 children. Her commitment to children extended beyond her home as she volunteered in various capacities – from rocking prematurely born babies in the Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit at Memorial Hospital to supporting new parents with guidance and resources through the First Visitor program. A long-time member of the Sunnyside Christian Church in Colorado Springs, Pat's faith was a cornerstone of her life, inspiring her to decidedly and selflessly serve others and guiding her through more than a decade of battling Parkinson's Disease.
Patricia was most proud of her family and is survived by her children, Kevin Patrick Prescott and his wife Rae-Lynn of Dexter, New Mexico; Sean David Prescott of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; and Kelly Gayle Harrington and her husband Monty of Lake Wales, Florida. She was the proud grandmother to Lanie, Courtney, Megan, Collin, Ilyssa, Emma, and Ella, and a great-grandmother to four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Sharon Marie Henson of Wichita, Kansas.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Margaret Bush, and her brother, Michael Don Bush.
Patricia's life will be honored and celebrated during a memorial service on Saturday, August 31 at ten o’clock in the morning in the chapel at Memorial Gardens in Colorado Springs.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to First Visitor of Peak Vista Community Health Centers or the Memorial Hospital Foundation for Woman & Infant Services. These organizations reflect Patricia's lifelong commitment to supporting children and families. Patricia’s life was a testament to her deep commitment to her faith, family, friends, and community, leaving a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire those who knew her for years to come.
