Patricia Keene, 88, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on July 10, 2024. Patricia was born in London, England and was raised by her loving grandparents. She attended parochial school, and at a young age worked in her grandparents’ many businesses in the Crystal Palace area of London. Most memorably, she helped the family at the Crystal Grill, a gathering place for many to enjoy fish and chips and other traditional British foods.
In 1955 she met the love of her life, an American serviceman, William “Bill” Keene. After a brief courtship, they married that year in England. They were blessed with four children and enjoyed their many assignments with the Air Force, including California, Norway, Oklahoma, and Colorado.
Patricia’s husband passed away in 1976 and long-time companion Art Valverde died in 2003. She is survived by her children Sharon LeMay (Brian) of Black Forest, Colorado, Linda Porter (Steve) of Phoenix, Arizona, Rachel Keene of Boca Raton, Florida, and Bill Keene (Vickie) of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Patricia loved babies and young children. She also had a love of travel, and travelled extensively throughout Europe, Scandinavia and several regions of the United States. She loved flowers and anything purple. She enjoyed movies and watching TV, listening to music, and playing bunco and bingo.
Although she left England at the young age of 19, Patricia retained much of her culture. She loved her daily cup of tea. She also loved many traditional English foods, such as Shepherds pie and Bangers and Mash. A special treat was Cadbury chocolates.
Patricia was loved by all. She had many friends and especially enjoyed her connections with the many women she met through the Pikes Peak British Club.
A memorial service will be held on July 16th at 10:30 at Aspen Trail Retirement Resort 5455 New Car Drive Colorado Springs, Colorado 80923. Wear purple!
