

Lt. Col. McGregor, 81, a Colorado Springs resident died May 19th, 2025, at 12:55pm, as a result of falling while in a very weakened condition and battling long term illnesses from serious military service injuries and disabilities. He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1966 as a Superior Cadet and Cadet brigade Commander of over 1,700 cadets. His military career included Army Airborne (Jumpmaster), instructor for the Army Command & General Staff College, Senior Advisor for Strategic Mobile Assistance and training team in Vietnam and an unprecedented three different commands of airborne, mechanized, and light infantry companies in combat in Vietnam and stateside. He was awarded three of the Bronze Star Medal* with Valor, two Meritorious Service Medals, numerous Army and Reserve Commendation Medals and other numerous medals and awards for achievements and services. After 10 % year as a regular Army Officer, he spent 12 years in the Army Reserves. After active duty, he became a realtor, the owner and broker of the McGregor Company, Realtors in Colorado Springs from 1984- 1998, when the multiple serious combat and training injuries resulted in his total and permanent disability. As a civilian, he worked at many institutes and college faculties teaching real estate law, finance, contracts, and investments at state and national levels. He attended the Church at St. Michael the Archangel Episcopal and was a member of the Disabled American veterans Chapter 26, in Colorado Springs. He also spent year as an active member of SERTOMA, served 5 years as a leading Ramrod for the Pikes Peak Rodeo and was Vice Chairperson for the Pikes Peak Rodeo Parade. He retired in 1999 due to his disability.
Lt. Col. McGregor was born on August 20. 1943 in Burlington, VT to George Raymond McGregor, and Edith M (Rubyor) McGregor, who are deceased. His siblings were Mary Patnaude (sister), Dorothy Fausel (sister) and two brother Robert and James McGregor. Peter attended Rice Memorial High School and was class president of his senior class. His first wife was Elinor Marney Cruickshank in Vermont (who is also deceased). His second wife Jing Xing Song of Kaifeng, China who still lives today (divorced). He is survived by his caretaker Jolene Smith (CNA) in Colorado, his godson Tuong Bui of San Jose, his nurse Christy McDonald (RN) in Colorado, and his accountant Marilee Plunkett (CPA) in Colorado. Peter was the last surviving member of his family.
