He passed away at Mackenzie Place Memory Care Unit, on June 8, 2012 after a long illness.
Raymond was born on July 2, 1934 in Wisconsin Rapids. Son of the late Edward and Melinda (Eller) Birringer. Raymond graduated from High School/Vocational Machine and Tool in 1952 and then enlisted in the Air Force until 1956. In 1956 he became civil service until his retirement in July 1989. During this time he lived in various locations to include Massachutes, Virginia and Alabama.
In 1990, he began working for the State of Alabama school system until he retired in 2000. In 2002, he moved from New Brockton, Alabama to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Raymond had a love for flying and earned his commercial pilot's license and worked for RAM Aviation in Newport News, Virginia for approximately 10 years.
Ray was an active member of the Moose Lodge and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Loving father of Gail (Ken) Decker, Jean (Elzo) van der Meulen, Joseph (Robin) Birringer and Melinda Livingston; caring grandfather of Nicole, Kris, Andrew, Niko, Mica, Michael, Jessica, Allie, Terra, Allison; dear great-grandfather of Jacob, Mackenzie, Alex, Elise, Leann, Mariah, Jason and Aiden (soon to be). Fond brother of the late Paul Birringer, sisters Lorraine Schuh, and Marian Ploeckelman. Further survived by several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held on June 16, 2012 at 11 am at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 South Hancock Ave, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903 (719-578-6646). The Family will greet friends and relatives after the service at Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado (719-590-8922)
