Raymond Chester Ross, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 85 on December 18, 2022, in Colorado Springs, CO. Raymond was a generous and loving man. He will be missed so much.
Raymond was born in rural Meade County, Kansas. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a Masters in Accounting and went to work for Derby Refining Co. in Wichita, Kansas. Ray married his sweetheart and soulmate Barbara Black on February 12th, 1961. The next big events in his life were the arrival of his two sons Randall and Russell. Then incredible love came with the arrival of his grandson Colin. Many weekend hours were spent with Colin in his early years which were the happiest ever for Raymond.
After the family moved to Colorado Springs, he worked for Colorado Interstate Gas as a CPA. He and Barbara joined the First United Methodist Church shortly thereafter and were longtime members of the DUO class. They cherished the many friendships made over the decades at FUMC.
Raymond was an exceptional husband and he and Barbara were blessed to share 61 years of marriage. He was a strong mentor to his two sons and grandson.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Isaac and Velma and his brothers Calvin, Wayne, and George. He is survived by his brother Vernon, wife Barbara, sons Randall and Russell, and grandson Colin.
Raymond’s life will be celebrated at the First United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 14th, 2023 at 11 am.
