Richard Eugene Burgess

February 27, 1931-January 31, 2015

Richard Eugene Burgess, age 83, passed away at Life Care Center on January 31, 2015. He was born on February 27, 1931, in Arriba, CO, to Francis and Maye Burgess. Richard graduated from Lindon High School in 1949. He moved to Colorado Springs and worked at Aircraft Mechanics. Richard served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. While in the Air Force, he married Betty Mae Squires on June 22, 1952. In 1955, Richard and Betty Mae

moved back to Colorado Springs where Richard began working again at Aircraft Mechanics until his retirement in 1988.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Mae, and two daughters, Sharron (Bill) Evans and Patricia (Tim) McFarland as well as a sister, Lois Vandervoort. He has four grandchildren: Will Evans, Jennifer (James) Brown, Trevor (Natalie) McFarland, and Brett McFarland and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Mae Homer, and an infant son Richard Wayne.

Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Memorial Gardens, 3825 Airport Road from 4:00-6:00 pm. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at The sanctuary at Evangelical Christian Academy, 2511 N. Logan Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to Church on the Ranch, P. O. Box 50857, Colorado Springs, CO 80949.
