Richard Walter Looper was born August 24, 1932 to father Edward Lee Looper and mother Patricia Cecilia Sentena in Colorado Springs, CO. With his family by his side on March 2, 2017 he passed peacefully in his home after a long illness. He was a native of Colorado and a high school graduate of Palmer High School. In 1992 he retired from 34 years of service to the Colorado Springs Utilities.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Helen and three sons Lynn (Marsha), Rick (Laurie Anne) and Darrell. He had eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
As an active member of the community, he was a long time 4_H leader, President of the 4-H foundation and a member of the Fair Board of Directors, tirelessly working to improve the county fair for the animals and contestants. He became a member of the Pikes Peak Range Riders horse group in 1979, serving in several capacities with them including doing the Lord’s Prayer in Indian sign language in full Indian dress at various functions. As a loving husband, grandfather and great-grandfather he will be greatly missed by the many people that knew him.
